Saturday 31st May and I took Sally out to Cape Banks on the northern headland of Botany Bay to see if we could spot any whales getting a head start on their northward migration to the breeding grounds. The seas were mainly flat, there was breeze with some west in it and the water looked quite clear - a nice day for a dive. No whales were seen, but looking behind us and into the bay we spotted a pod of 20-25 common (I think) dolphins playing around quite close to the shore. They did not stick around for long, rather headed out of the bay and to the north, playing in the waves as they went.
