Sean had picked up two tanks in the morning as we were straight back out again on Maverick with only a 15 minute turn around. There was to be only one other buddy pair, but another jumped on at the last minute to make a compliment of 6 for the 40miniute run to the James Fennel. This was going to be a nice easy dive in around 15m about a part broken, slightly ship-shaped wreck on a nice bit of reef.

And for us it was. We went in last. Could not find the wreck to begin with, but the reef was nice, there was little current and I thought a nice bimble was as good as a dodgy wreck, so thought nothing of it. Add to that a cuttlefish that Sean found and the dive was already a winner. Anenomes and other fixed life, some nice kelp, quite a few fish, and 20minutes in something that looked like a wreck!

The wreck itself is not too impressive, but makes a nice dive as it is quite reefy. We found a nice crayfish, more tompots, more fixed life, a sea robin (maybe) and were having a nice time. Well a mainly nice time; in his new Weezle Sean had been a bit floaty (you have to love new dive gear and more bouyancy checks) but that did noit spoil the dive. I made various grabs of my valves - skills and drills - Sean had a new SMB and reel which he wanted to deploy. So at 45mins I found a flatish spot and we sent bags up. Quite a success actually.

We made or way to the surface - Sean a little quicker than he would have liked with the new reel, new gear and so on. Nitrox and a shallow dive meant there was no drama. No drama that is for us.

The boat picked us up and we saw that there was only one other buddy pair back. We waited, we looked around and Graham got on the radio back to base when they hit 15mins late. Then it was 30mins and after steming up and down without any sign of them it was time to call the chopper.

Luckliy we had a happy ending, and 2hours after entering the water pair number one were picked up, still in the water but aongside a fishing boat 4MILES down towards Portland Bill. One hell of a drift.
